The Packaging Cluster held its second Board of Directors of 2026 at Espai Esencia in Carinsa (Barcelona), in a session that combined strategic work and an immersive experience thanks to the hosting of this company, a founding partner of the entity and which currently holds the first vice-presidency of the cluster.
The meeting made it possible to monitor the activity of the cluster during the first part of the year, as well as to share the main lines of work and future challenges. In this sense, the high activity in innovation projects has been highlighted, with a total of 33 initiatives in progress, presented or in preparation, in areas such as European projects, ACCIÓ programs or operational groups.
In the institutional field, the Board has valued the renewal of the register as an Innovative Business Group (AEI) until 2030, which is complemented by the recent revalidation of the European Gold Label seal of excellence in cluster management. These recognitions reinforce the Packaging Cluster's position as a reference entity both at national and European level, and contribute to promoting the generation of new innovation projects.
One of the central points of the session was the approval of the new Strategic Plan 2026-2029, which establishes as priorities the growth of the cluster, the consolidation of its role as a sector reference and the increase in the value provided to members. Among the outstanding objectives are the digitization of the organization, the promotion of activity and services, as well as the reinforcement of the positioning and the brand.
During the meeting, the economic evolution of the entity was also reviewed, with a positive result in the first quarter of the year and a balanced income structure between membership fees, projects and services, as well as the state of the membership base, which currently stands at around 150 members.
Finally, the upcoming activities of the cluster were shared, among which the General Assembly and the Packaging Talks planned for the month of June stand out, as well as an Innovation Mission to the United Kingdom aimed at detecting trends and generating new opportunities for international collaboration.
The day was completed with an immersive experience in the Esencia Space, which allowed attendees to learn first-hand about Carinsa's capabilities in the sensorial field and applied innovation, highlighting the talent and pioneering initiatives of the organization's members.
