• On 19-20 June, the bank will bring together experts from the  sector in L'Empordà to promote strategic reflection.

On April 28, the second meeting of the year 2025 of the Board of Directors of the  Packaging Cluster was held, meeting at the Hotel Qgat in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The different representatives that govern the entity monitored the Strategic Plan and the main actions and projects that will be carried out by the cluster, as well as the planning for the coming months.

On this occasion, the Board of Directors carried out the usual economic monitoring of the association, as well as that of the new registrations of the entity, where in the first four months there are already 12 new companies, which expects to end the year with more than 24 registrations. Currently, the Packaging Cluster has 151 members, and is thus one of the largest packaging clusters in southern Europe, with the aim of continuing to grow to 160 members by the end of the year, as set out in the current Strategic Plan.

During the celebration, the 21  projects that the entity is currently managing  were summarized, including the Green  Impackt, which will promote collaboration with Colombian SMEs and it is worth highlighting the success of the international mission in Colombia with a very good assessment by the participants. It is also worth highlighting the entity's commitment to European projects, where 2 have recently been presented with partners of the entity which are pending resolution.

In terms of activities, it should be noted that the cluster will carry out the international  mission in Bologna with 10 associated companies and entities, focusing on innovations in packaging machinery, as well as on the development of materials and biomaterials for the pharmaceutical and food sectors, with a clear commitment to sustainability and the search for innovative and  advanced solutions.

Finally, the Board of Directors focused on the  Assembly and the Packaging Talks, each year, the Packaging Cluster brings together its associate members and main collaborators or stakeholders  for 1 day and a half to enjoy high-level presentations and networking sessions among the more than 150 attendees. It has been and is the meeting point par excellence of the Packaging Cluster that aims to promote strategic reflection.

The meeting will take place on 19  and 20 June, where on the one hand the Annual Assembly will be held, in which each of the strategic points of the entity will be decided, and on the other hand the Packaging Talks will be held, a series of presentations on innovation and trends, where we will delve into issues that concern the sector and that will be key to drawing the future of packaging and packaging. During the day, the challenges of family businesses, which are very present in the packaging sector, will also be discussed (see the programme here). This year the assembly will also elect half of the members of the Board of  Directors, who will guide the entity for the next 4 years (see here the 12  current members).

On the other hand, the collaboration of the activities with the Innovation  and Packaging Cluster of Valencia was presented with different conferences such as the webinar of the Digital Product Passport and the collaboration in the Packaging Start-up Day. There was also space to comment on the Discover MareNostrum  5 conference, a conference on innovation and cutting-edge technology at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), with the participation of leading companies in the field of automation and artificial intelligence.

Finally, the usual monitoring of the Strategic Plan and the 2025 Action Plan   was carried out.It should be remembered that the entity will work this year to carry out a new Strategic Plan 2026-2029, which will also have a new Strategic Update for the sector, which will soon be tendered by ACCIO in order to have an updated document on the impact of trends and challenges on the business fabric.

Finally, it should be remembered that participation in the Board of Directors is open to all members of the entity. In this case, we were able to enjoy the presence of the companies CL Grupo Industrial and Energy Tools, as well as the representative of  ACCIÓ (business department of the Generalitat). The next Board of Directors will meet at the Hotel Qgat (Sant Cugat del Vallès) on 8 September.
