MATERTalk. Packaging: rethinking matter

The packaging sector is undergoing a period of accelerated transformation. New regulations, market demands, and growing environmental pressure are redefining the materials we use and the way we design packaging. For professionals in the field, navigating this change means knowing what alternatives exist, evaluating their viability, and understanding how to implement them in practice.

In this MATERTalk, companies actively working on the development and commercialization of alternative materials for packaging will share real-world cases: the properties these new materials offer, the applications they have found, and the journey from innovation to a market-ready product.

In the case of Pack2Earth, they will show us how it is possible to replace fossil-based plastics with bio-based materials for food packaging and other sectors. And with B’Zeos, we will discover the potential of seaweed as a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to conventional plastic.

The session will be moderated by Mercè Gorina Pradas, Innovation Manager at the Packaging Cluster, who will provide an overview of the current state of the sector—from viable alternatives and existing barriers to resources and guidance tools for companies and design professionals.

The event will feature speaker presentations, a panel discussion, and an open Q&A session to address doubts and exchange experiences with other participants. As is standard for MATERFAD activities, physical samples of the materials will be available so you can see and touch them firsthand.
