Flexible plastic packaging is a growing segment in the packaging industry and has traditionally consisted of several layers of different types of plastics, often also including aluminum, which makes further recycling difficult. With an eye toward 2030, the year in which by 2030 all plastic packaging within the EU must be recyclable or reusable, monomaterials play a crucial role in the field of flexible packaging and have attracted the interest of the sector.
At the moment, one of the challenges that is on the table is how to achieve the same sealing quality in monomaterial flexible packaging, and we are going to dedicate this online Innovation Workshop that we organize together with secpho to this topic. We want to analyze the capabilities of laser technology and other Deep Tech to offer solutions to this technological challenge that many companies in the packaging sector will soon have to face. Until now, laser technology has been a powerful ally with multiple applications such as laser cutting, perforation, stamping or engraving.
In this session we will learn, next to different experts, the applications of the laser for the sealing of flexible packaging made of monomaterial.
